Some of this training is required by CalOES guidelines for all searcher. These will be marked with an "*".
For those required course, these may be taken in lieu of the Academy Classes if you missed it for some reason. However, we would encourage you to attend the in person course at your earliest availability as the dynamic of the iniperson environment provides better learning and retention and allows for questions to be answered that you have or that others have that you may not have thought of.
IS 100: Introduction to the Incident Command System*

NEW! Helicopter Operations for SAR Responders*
This course provides foundational helicopter safety and operational considerations for SAR responders . This training was developed in 2021 by Dr Tim Dirkin, Chief Medical officer for La Plata and San Juan counties in Colorado and former Medical Director for Albuquerque MRA. This course satisfies the NASAR Basic Aviation Safety or equivalent certificate prerequisite. You will receive a Certificate upon completion which you may forward to pvcerts@edsar.org or sltcerts@edsar.org to be added to your training record

Visit the CalTopo training page for an orientation on using the CalTopo app. Pay particular attention to Recording Tracks as this is the most useful aspect for tracking activity on searches. Operationally we will be working cooperatively on a shared map based on a link or QR code provided by IST.
