El Dorado County Search and Rescue Animal Technical Rescue
Through the gracious donations and grants received in this past year, EDSAR has begun to develop their very own Animal Technical Rescue Team. Through donations received by the Halter Fund and a grant received by the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation, we have logged many hundreds of hours of training and received large amounts of equipment. We have been able to acquire Technical Large Animal Rescue Training, Fireline Safety Training, and All Hazards training to allow our team to work in situations beyond the normal scope of Search and Rescue. This year, our team was utilized to assist in the care of many animal evacuated during the Caldor Fire. Through our work with these animals, the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation awarded us a grant that has allowed the acquisition of a Stock Trailer, panels, pig boards, animal crates and technical rope equipment to assist in the future needs of our animal community. Through donations from our team members and the retirement of equipment from service for our technical rescue and swiftwater teams, we have ropes, personal floatation devices, and technical rescue gear ready for deployment. All of these items, accumulated in the past year, have not added to the budget of ESARC, but have greatly added to the value of our team and our commitment to meet the needs of our community.
